Sarah Elizabeth Blessing and Andrew Bryant Valk joyfully announce their marriage on December 22, 2018 at Emory United Methodist Church in Emory, VA. The Rev. Derek Harden officiated at the 3 p.m. ceremony. A reception followed at the Barns at Chip Ridge in Abingdon, VA.
The bride is the daughter of John and Kim Blessing. She is the granddaughter of George and Ilene Gibson, Jean Blessing and the late Gordon Blessing, all of Kingsport, TN.
The groom is the son of Tony and Karen Valk. He is the grandson of Sarah Valk, the late Auke Valk, and the late Ivan and Kathryn Bryant, all of Kingsport, TN.
Maid of honor was Whitney Blessing of Kingsport, sister of the bride. Bridesmaids were Juliana Valk of Memphis, TN and Laurel Caldwell of Chattanooga, TN, sisters of the groom; Gracie Gibson of Kingsport, cousin of the bride; Courtney Teague of Dalton, GA, Anna Jones of Kingsport, Shelby Esterle of Oak Ridge, TN, and Katryn Bancroft of Knoxville, TN, all friends of the bride. Flower girl was Elowyn Caldwell of Chattanooga, niece of the groom.
Best man was Tony Valk, father of the groom. Groomsmen were Jarrod Edwards of Kingsport, Clark Hasler of Birmingham, AL, Collin Bruner of Maryville,TN, Edgar Voltz of Nashville, TN, Rick Bunge of Greenville, SC, Tyler Willingham of Greenville, SC, Wes Young of Chattanooga, and Sterling Street of Greenville, SC, all friends of the groom.
Special music was provided by Anne Sorrell, pianist; C.J. Hill, guitarist; Michaela Hill, Azlinn Edwards, and Josh Jenkins, vocalists.
The bride is a graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School and Milligan College with a bachelor's degree in business administration. She received her juris doctorate from the University of Tennessee College of Law. She is employed by Hunter, Smith and Davis as an associate attorney.
The groom is a graduate of Sullivan South High School and the University of Tennessee with a bachelor's degree in plant science. He is employed in management at Evergreen of Johnson City.
Following a wedding trip to Thailand, the couple resides in Kingsport.
